Melanie Tantisira, MD attended the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns, School of Medicine, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and graduated at the top of her class in 1990. She completed her internship at the University of Hawaii, followed by her residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her hospital privileges are with the largest hospital in Hawaii, Queen’s Medical Center. A board-certified physician, Dr. Tantisira is also an assistant faculty member with the Department of Surgery at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Tantisira originally trained to perform microsurgery and to inject Botox during medical school in 1989. In 1994, she was among the first surgeons in Hawaii to perform a revolutionary cataract surgery that didn’t require a shot, stitches or patches. This less invasive procedure offers numerous benefits to patients, including greater comfort during the operation. Dr. Tantisira’s exceptional surgical skills and manual dexterity have proven invaluable in performing this procedure and other eye surgeries, as well as in providing cosmetic treatments. In 2004, she established her own practice in order to focus on delivering premium, patient-centered care for both eyes and aesthetics.
Since 2007, Dr. Tantisira has been recognized as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists, thanks to her 34 years of experience performing delicate surgeries and administering Botox injections. Today, her Honolulu office offers a diverse array of cosmetic procedures. Dr. Tantisira is renowned for her gentle and artistic approach to aesthetic techniques, ensuring that each patient receives a personalized evaluation at every visit.
