Madonna Lift Honolulu

Effective Eyelid Lift Without Surgery

Melanie Tantisira, MD is the first physician in Hawaii to perform the “Madonna Lift”. An alternative for people who want minimal downtime, natural looking results of effective eyelid lift for upper and/or lower eyelids without surgery. Since this is a non-invasive procedure, the outcome is a rejuvenated, refreshed look by tightening the skin around the eyes.

This innovative procedure tightens skin on the eyelids by stimulating collagen production. Since no incisions are involved, downtime and risks are minimized.

Recapturing Youthful Skin

Typically, the first area we notice skin aging is around the eyes. It may appear as crow’s feet around the outer corners of the eyes. The upper eyelid area may begin to sag or look hooded. Under-eye circles and bags may appear and result in a tired or aged look. As we mature we produce less collagen with significant moisture and elasticity loss.

The Fractional CO2 laser stimulates collagen production which rejuvenates the skin. In addition to the eyes, this treatment may be applied to the face, neck and other parts of the body. The treatment is less invasive as the columns of laser penetrate deeply but leave untreated skin in between laser columns, this leaves the untreated skin to aid the healing process.

The results with Fractional CO2 laser skin treatment are visible skin improvement with minimal downtime.

The “Madonna Lift” – How It Works

The “Madonna Lift” is named after the pop star who had this non-surgical laser treatment to reduce the signs of aging around the eyes. The procedure yields visible results – a youthful, refreshed look without undergoing traditional eye surgery while preserving the original look of the candidate.

The “Madonna Lift” also enhances skin elasticity. It promotes smoother, tighter skin with better texture around the eye area and eyelids. Dr. Bruce Katz of the New York Juva Skin and Laser Center pioneered the procedure and demonstrates the lift on TV’s The Doctors.

Prior to the “Madonna Lift,” Fractional CO2 lasers were not used directly on the eyelids for fear of damaging the patient’s eyes. Dr. Katz led the way through his innovative use of protective metal eye shields inserted into the eyes, like large contact lenses, effectively preventing damage to eyesight.
The procedure tightens the skin on the eyelid and surrounding areas by heavily stimulating collagen production. Treatment with Botox Cosmetic or Dysport to relax the muscles that pull the brow downward further enhances the eyelid lift. All of this is done without surgery whle down time and risks are minimized.

Dr. Tantisira first introduced the “Madonna Lift” to Honolulu in 2010. She is the only doctor in Hawaii performing this breakthrough treatment – offering a natural, youthful result, instead of drastic change.

Her training in Ophthalmology and specialization in surgical and non-surgical treatment make her uniquely qualified to perform the “Madonna Lift,” with visible results.

Pre-Treatment Regime

Prior to any laser treatment, Dr. Tantisira requires darker-skinned patients to complete a strict pre-treatment preparation plan of physician-grade sunscreen. Patients with severe pigmentation irregularities also need to pre-treat with an anti-pigmentation medication prescribed by Dr. Tantisira. Proceeding with a laser treatment without strict compliance, may result in avoidable pigmentation issues.

A topical anesthetic is applied for 20-30 minutes, eye shields are inserted, and the procedure itself takes 10-15 minutes. Patients will “rest” afterward for a few minutes. Some redness and swelling will occur which resolves in 24-48 hours, however results may vary. A full lift requires a series of 3-5 treatments, usually scheduled 2 weeks apart, depending on each patient’s condition. During the consultation, Dr. Tantisira will design a treatment plan for each patient based on the degree of elasticity loss and e

The Fractional CO2 laser may also be used on the face, neck and other parts of the body to address skin texture irregularities, hyperpigmentation, pigmented lesions, fine lines, acne scars and sun damage.
