Patient Testimonial
I have been seeing Dr. Tantisira for several years now. Initially, I went to see her for the fractional CO2 laser. Not even fully understanding it’s true benefits. Of course I was so happy with the way I “looked”. I looked so much younger! Then I went in for some Botox and fillers. Again I was thrilled with my results. A couple years have gone by and 50 is around the corner. Reality is setting in. I was diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer. And I have severe dry eye. She is an amazing eye doctor along with her other talents of skin care. I ended up needing my tear ducts cauterized. She performed this procedure and my quality of life has changed.

Looking for a safe, effective way to soften lines and refresh your look? At True Vision Center in Honolulu, Botox and Dysport injections are expertly administered by Dr. Melanie Tantisira, an experienced MD injector with over 30 years of surgical and cosmetic experience. Whether you’re concerned about crow’s feet, frown lines, or forehead creases, our Botox treatments offer a quick, non-surgical way to rejuvenate your appearance.
What Is Botox?
Botox is a cosmetic injection made from a purified protein that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles. By limiting repeated movement, it reduces the appearance of wrinkles caused by expressions like squinting, frowning, or raising your eyebrows.
Dysport works similarly and is often used for larger areas like the forehead. Dr. Tantisira will guide you on which product may work best for you.
Why Patients Choose Botox
A single Botox treatment can smooth the skin and subtly lift certain features—no anesthesia, recovery, or significant time commitment required.
Here’s what patients often notice after their visit:
- A more relaxed and refreshed appearance
- Fewer expression lines around the eyes and forehead
- A soft lift in the brow or corners of the mouth
- Better facial symmetry and balance
Some patients also come in for a gentle brow lift using Botox, a great alternative to surgery for lifting the upper eyelids.
Is Botox Right for You?
Botox is an excellent fit for adults between 18 and 65 who are starting to see lines from facial movements. These are often called “dynamic wrinkles”—they show up when you smile, frown, or concentrate.
You may be a good candidate if:
- You have mild to moderate wrinkles that appear with facial movement
- You’re in good health and not pregnant or nursing
- You want a non-surgical solution with subtle results
- You’re open to maintaining your results every few months
If you’ve also noticed deeper folds or volume loss, we may recommend combining Botox with dermal fillers to smooth static wrinkles or restore fullness in the cheeks and lips.
How the Treatment Works
Botox treatments at our Honolulu clinic are done in-office and typically take less than 30 minutes.
After reviewing your facial anatomy and goals, Dr. Tantisira will apply ice or numbing cream if needed. She uses ultra-fine needles to make quick, precise injections into the target muscles.
Each treatment plan is tailored to your facial structure without frozen expressions or overdone results.
What to Expect After Botox
There’s no real downtime—you can return to your day right after the appointment. Just avoid lying down or touching the treated areas for about four hours.
Here’s a general timeline of what to expect:
- Three to Five Days: Early results begin to appear
- Two Weeks: Full effect is visible
- Three to Six Months: Results gradually fade, and a follow-up may be scheduled
Many patients find that staying on a consistent treatment schedule helps maintain results longer between visits.
How Much Does Botox Cost?
The cost of Botox in Honolulu depends on how many areas you’re treating and how much product is used. We’ll give you an estimate during your consultation and financing options to make treatment much more accessible to you.
For patients considering multiple enhancements, we often combine Botox with treatments like Juvederm Voluma to restore volume or Kybella to improve chin definition without surgery.

Results from Botox injections depend on the treatment area and pre-treatment status. Frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines can be erased if they have not been present for too long. (If these wrinkles have been present for a long time, there could be skin damage with lines etched into the skin that will require time or another procedure to completely remove.) Other treatment areas, such as bunny lines, lip flip, Nefertiti Lift, depressor anguli oris, masseter muscle, and neck webs all respond very well to muscle relaxant treatment. Because of her experience, Dr. Tantisra usually gets maximum results with these muscle relaxing medications. Her patients have come to expect her “Botox brow lift” with their frown line and upper eyelid treatment. The youthful results of smooth skin are amazing. Results typically last up to 3 to 6 months for the first treatment. Each subsequent treatment lasts longer if it is performed as soon as the previous treatment wears off, so that many of her patients only need it every 6 to 9 months.
Discomfort is minimal as Dr. Tantisira uses tiny needles 2 to 3 sizes smaller than the standard size used by other injectors. Adding very cold ice or numbing cream as needed to the skin, she really strives to maximize each patient’s comfort and to minimize bruising.
The recovery period is short, with the main restriction being to avoid rubbing the treated area for 4 hours to decrease the risk of spread to the wrong muscle. Most normal activities can be resumed right away, but facials and massage of the face should be avoided for a day or so. Mild bruising, swelling, and redness are possible side effects, but they are usually temporary and mild.
